Crafted cocktails and a crispy crab Benedict! Washington DC boasts various dinner restaurants that offer a wide variety of dining experiences. However, only a short drive away is The Daily Dish in Silver Spring, Maryland offering a Farm to Fork experience.
About The Daily Dish:
The Daily Dish is a play of words that reflects the passion of its two owners, Jerry Hollinger and Zena Polin, who believe in serving comfort food with a twist — food that is seasonally inspired, locally sourced and farm fresh. The Daily Dish is the winner of the 2015 Rammy Award for Everyday Casual Brunch and the 2017 Nominee for Casual Restaurant of the Year.
Zena, co-owner, is a trilingual author, editor & writer with experience writing about food, wine and travel in and about Latin America, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico & the US. She is the author of two guidebooks, The Other Side of Sydney & The Pub, Club and Grub Guide to Washington, DC; managing editor and principal writer of two destination magazines, Visitor St. Kitts and Nevis and Discover St. Kitts; and writer for a Caribbean cable television show, St. Kitts Travel Channel. She’s written on food and wine for Washington Flyer, Latitudes Magazine and Mexican Xpatz among others. Until becoming a partner in The Daily Dish she was the owner of The Winning Ticket, a public relations, marketing & communications firm with clients in Washington, DC, St. Kitts & Puerto Rico. She appeared on Planet Green with Emeril Lagasse on Craving the Caribbean and decided she was ready to take on a new experience.
Zagat Review: This American eatery in Silver Spring kicks everyday eating up a notch, spotlighting house-baked breads and comfort food (including its crowd-pleasing brunch) made from farm-fresh, organic ingredients. It's all prepared in an open kitchen and served in contemporary quarters outfitted with colorful artwork, large windows and a welcoming sidewalk patio.
